The Race That Is Set Before Us

Having using Hebrews 11 to focus on the importance of carrying the torch of Truth, this sermon is taken from Hebrews 12:1-2.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Are there weights in your own life that need to be laid aside? Are there sins clinging so closely that you’re finding it impossible to progress? Whomever you are, there is still an opportunity to run the race God is calling you to run. Are you willing?

This sermon was delivered on July 29, 2012.
