We just covered this verse in Bible class last night and I used this situation as a perfect illustration. I wish I had read the statement Jody released before Bible study (I read it after getting home). I think it is very important for us to look at this situation, not to condemn Mr. Lusk, but to consider our own standing. In reading his statement we can each and every one of us see the danger that lies at OUR door in not continuing to grow in our service and fervor. I’m thankful to men such as you and Edwin who have provided some excellent tools to help keep us focused. Your book Boot Camp is great for men to read to keep our focus on God and His Word and to build us up to avoid some of the very situations Mr. Lusk failed in. Edwin’s book on “High Voltage Prayer” provides insight to another problem Mr. Lusk mentioned, not praying to God.
I hope no one misinterprets my comments. Neither of these books are the answers, but provoke the reader to study the book that does have the answers – the Bible.
In short, keep up the good work Jason, and I’m looking forward to the next installment.

Jason, thanks for the link. Those verses are really good to remember when thinking about a situation like this. Verse 12 reminds us that we should learn from the failings of others with the understanding that we can fall just as they did. But verse 13 tells us that we never have to sin. Sure, we sin from time to time. But we have God’s promise that there will always be a way of escape. We will always have the choice to do what is right, no matter what situation we find ourselves in.
