Day by day His tender mercy
Healing, helping, full and free,
Brought me lower while I whispered
“Less of self, and more of Thee.”
Are you dedicated to the goal of spiritual growth? Day by day? Hour by hour? How ironic that in order to grow closer to God we must wither to self. With that in mind, here’s my goal. In the things I say, the actions I take, the solutions I strive for and the decisions I make, less of self, more of God. Could I encourage you to make that goal your own?
Each of us desperately needs the tender mercy of the Father to fill our lives. But in order to be full, self must be emptied. In order to heal, ego must be crucified. In order to help, pride must be purged. In order to experience true freedom, the flesh must be enslaved.
Let’s try to make that a practical reality more and more throughout the rest of this week.
