The Most Significant Thing You Could Say About Yourself Today

What do you think it is? The most significant thing you could possibly say about yourself today? It doesn’t revolve around what you do, did, or hope to do for a living:

  • “I have a position at…”
  • “I’m a student at…”
  • “I retired from…”

No, it’s bigger than that. It doesn’t revolve around your social status, your accomplishments, or the perks that flow your way as a result:

  • “We live in…”
  • “I’m a Platinum member of…”
  • “We went on our dream vacation to…”
  • “I have the corner office on the top floor at…”

No, it’s bigger than that. It doesn’t even have to do with your closest relationships, your family tree, or your nationality:

  • “I’m a spouse.”
  • “I’m a mother.”
  • “My grandfather was…
  • “I’m a citizen of the United States of America.”

No, all those things carry a certain amount of significance, but they’re not the most significant thing you could say about yourself. So what is? Psalm 116:16 is a worthy contender: “O LORD, I am your servant.”

Say that, mean it, live from it, and the other aspects of your life will fall into place. You’ll be in harmony with the reason for your existence, you’ll be a blessing to the people around you, and your Father in heaven will get the glory. In terms of what really matters? There’s nothing more significant than that.
