Discipleship

A 19-Day Thankfulness Challenge & Invitation

Colossians 3:15 contains a straightforward set of instructions for disciples of Jesus.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

We know that being thankful is more than mouthing “Thank you” without any feeling. Genuine expressions of gratitude flow from humble hearts and engaged minds. We fail to thank when we forget to think about how richly blessed we are.

So here’s a challenge and an invitation for the next 19 days, including today. For what are you thankful? For whom are you thankful? Be deliberate in thinking about those questions every day, for the next 19 days.

Download the Today, I’m Thankful For list as an interactive tool to help you “abound in thanksgiving” (Col 2:7). And as you count the people in your life who are blessings, let them know just how thankful you are … for them, for their work, for the difference they have made and are making.

We fail to thank when we forget to think about how richly blessed we are. So let’s set our minds on paying attention to the grace we’ve received from God and the good gifts we continue to enjoy from his hand, day by day.

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. (1 Chron 16:34)
