A bulletin board hangs above my desk. More than a dozen handwritten reminders are always within arm’s reach. Here’s one that has helped me as a preacher. Perhaps it will help you as well.

Preparing to Preach:

  1. Refresh myself
  2. Center myself in prayer
  3. Think myself empty
  4. Read myself full
  5. Write myself clear
  6. Pray myself fervent
  7. Be myself
  8. Forget myself
