Like Living Stones

Like Living Stones

If ever there was a worthy attempt to build “a house for the name of the LORD” (1 Kings 5:5), surely the temple built by Solomon in Jerusalem was it. But as incredibly grand as that temple was:

Listen to what the LORD asked in Isaiah 66:1.

Thus says the LORD: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?”

Listen to what Paul proclaimed in Acts 17:24-25.

“The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.”

Though he does not live in temples made by man, our Creator earnestly desires that we would seek him (Isa 66:2). As Lord of heaven and earth, he commands all of us to stop dishonoring him and start living for him.

Let’s sit at the feet of Peter as he clearly guides us through the gospel and the call to the blessing of being living stones in the spiritual house of God.
