Acts 13 documents Paul’s very first recorded sermon. Paul and Barnabas had come to Antioch in Pisidia. It was a Sabbath day in a Jewish synagogue.
After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent a message… “If you have any word of encouragement for the people, say it.” So Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said…
Paul’s sermon had four major points:
- God raises up a great nation: The message of God’s law
- God raises up a great king: The message of Israel’s future
- God raises up his own Son: The message of mankind’s salvation
- God raises the question: “What will you do with my grace?”
