When We Call Ourselves Christians

When we call ourselves “Christians,” what do we mean by that? Of utmost importance, what would our heavenly Father have us mean by that?

Christians? Yes.

We are of, relating to, deriving from Christ (Acts 11:19-26; John 15:5)

Perfect? No.

Forgiven? Yes. (Isa 1:18; Acts 22:16)

Brainwashed? No.

Slaves? Yes. (Rom 6:16-18)

Know-it-alls? No.

Disciples? Yes. (Matt 28:18-20)

Worthy? No.

Accepted? Yes. (2 Cor 6:16-18)

Deserving? No.

Loved? Yes. (Luke 15:17-24)

Full of fear? No.

Full of faith? Yes. (Rom 8:12-17)

Intentionally offensive? No.

Countercultural? Yes. (Matt 5:13-16)

Missing out? No.

On a mission? Yes. (Rom 6:20-21;  1 Pet 1:13-16)

Finished? No.

Progressing? Yes. (Phil 3:12-15)
