Your Bible is About Jesus

Bible and the Shadow of a cross

Remember Name That Tune? The game show host would read a clue about a song and the contestants would alternate bidding as to how few notes they needed to identify the song title. Each contestant would state their bid with the same words: “I can name that tune in ___ notes!”

How many words would you need to describe what the Bible is all about? Could you do it with just five words? What about four? Three? Two? Could you describe the Bible’s central message with just one word?

Of course, there many words we could use, but here’s one: Jesus. Your Bible is about Jesus.

  • The Old Testament: ANTICIPATION of the Messiah’s coming
  • The Gospels: MANIFESTATION of the Son of God
  • The Acts of the Apostles: PROCLAMATION of the gospel of the risen Christ
  • The Epistles: EXPLANATION of what it means to live as disciples of Jesus
  • The Revelation: CONSUMMATION of the work of the Alpha and the Omega

Your Bible is all about Jesus. This sermon walks through a variety of passages to make that point abundantly clear. But here’s an equally important question: Is your life about Jesus?

This sermon was delivered on April 13, 2014.
