“Do Not My Words Do Good?”

Sunrise

In Micah 2:7, God had a question for his people. These were people who had wandered far from him. A quick survey of Micah 2:1-6 shows us how extensive their self-inflicted damage really was.

Woe to those who devise wickedness
___ and work evil on their beds!
When the morning dawns, they perform it,
___ because it is in the power of their hand.
They covet fields and seize them,
___ and houses, and take them away;
they oppress a man and his house,
___ a man and his inheritance.
Therefore thus says the LORD:
___ behold, against this family I am devising disaster,
from which you cannot remove your necks,
___ and you shall not walk haughtily,
___ for it will be a time of disaster.
In that day they shall take up a taunt song against you
___ and moan bitterly,
and say, “We are utterly ruined;
___ he changes the portion of my people;
how he removes it from me!
___ To an apostate he allots our fields.”
Therefore you will have none to cast the line by lot
___ in the assembly of the LORD.
“Do not preach”—thus they preach—
___ “one should not preach of such things;
___ disgrace will not overtake us.”

Which leads God to ask these questions:

Should this be said, O house of Jacob?
___ Has the LORD grown impatient?
___ Are these his deeds?
Do not my words do good
___ to him who walks uprightly?

These 2,700-year-old words still matter. For you. Today.

  • Your heavenly Father has commanded what he has commanded for your good.
  • Your heavenly Father has prohibited what he has prohibited for your good.
  • Your heavenly Father has prescribed what he has prescribed for your good.
  • Your heavenly Father expects what he expects from you for your good.

Hear him today.

Do not my words do good
___ to him who walks uprightly?

Trust him today. Walk uprightly with him and for him today.
