Day 3 of Powerful Prayer

32 Days of Powerful Prayer

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2nd  •  MY MOTIVES IN PRAYER

Scripture for the Day: “You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.” (James 4:3)

Thought for the Day: Even as a Christian, I can ask wrongly. The problem, according to James, revolves around my motives. Why do I want what I want? Who is the true king of my life? When I pray to God, my focus should be on his will and his glory, not simply using him to get things from him.

Seeds for Today’s Prayers: “Father, through your Son you’ve told me to ask, seek, and knock. In my asking, seeking, and knocking, help me to ask rightly with ultimate focus on your will and your glory.”
