Day 12 of Powerful Prayer

32 Days of Powerful Prayer

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11th  •  PRAYER IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TEMPTATION

Scripture for the Day: “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31-32)

Thought for the Day: How significant that the Son of God prayed for Simon Peter and his fight against temptation! In Matthew 6:13, Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Immediately after describing the “armor of God,” Paul charged Christians to be “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication” (Eph 6:18). To face the temptations of the day without prayer is to act like a fool and invite disaster.

Seeds for Today’s Prayers: “Father, no temptation will come before me today that is not common to man. You are faithful, and you will not let me be tempted beyond my ability, but with the temptation you will also provide a way of escape, that I might be able to endure it. Help me to endure well today.”
