Day 10 of Powerful Prayer

32 Days of Powerful Prayer

Scripture for the Day: “Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish, saying, ‘I called out to the LORD, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice.” (Jonah 2:1-2)

Thought for the Day: Jonah was not the first (or the last) of us to stubbornly resist God’s will for his life. As a result, he experienced great adversity. What’s your reaction to life’s problems and difficulties? Are you consumed with anger and tempted to blame God? When Jonah came to himself, God was ready and willing to hear. In that moment, Jonah’s adversities presented an opportunity for growth.

Seeds for Today’s Prayers: “Father, You are faithful. That cannot always be said of me. Help me to maintain a proper perspective on adversities. May they be avenues by which I can draw closer to you.”
