Jesus Died So That We Might Die to Sin and Live to Righteousness

Why Did Jesus Die?

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 Pet 2:24)

Remember today. Jesus died on a cross.

Reflect today. He himself bore my sins in his body.

Proclaim today. “By Jesus’ wounds I have been healed.”

But don’t stop there. Don’t allow your remembrance, reflection, and proclamation to be a “Sunday activity” with no practical bearing on the rest of this God-given week.

Jesus died so that you might die to sin. Jesus was buried in order that you might bury your old self of sin and be truly free. Jesus was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father so that you might live to righteousness and walk in newness of life.

Remember, reflect, and proclaim today, by all means. Then live to righteousness for the rest of this week and the rest of your time on this earth. That’s why Jesus died.
