Mightier Than the Thunders of Many Waters

My daily Bible reading schedule took me through Psalm 93 this morning. In light of Hurricane Sandy, I was particularly struck by 93:3-4.

Hurricane Sandy

____________ The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty;
_________________ the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
____________ Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
____________ Your throne is established from of old;
_________________ you are from everlasting.

____________ The floods have lifted up, O LORD,
_________________ the floods have lifted up their voice;
_________________ the floods lift up their roaring.
____________ Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
_________________ mightier than the waves of the sea,
_________________ the LORD on high is mighty!

____________ Your decrees are very trustworthy;
_________________ holiness befits your house,
_________________ O LORD, forevermore.

As the devastating and awe-inspiring images continue to roll in, may we remember that the LORD on high is mightier than our minds can imagine and that holiness continues to befit his house (1 Pet 1:16).
