Don't Deceive Yourself

Today’s thought is taken from James 1:22.

That’s not hard to understand, is it?   Yesterday’s encouragement was to deliberately discipline ourselves to “receive with meekness the implanted word” which is able to save our souls.   The warning that follows is natural and logical: once you receive the word, make sure you’re a doer of the word.

No one can “do” the will of God for you, just as you cannot “do” the will of God for anyone else.   You know what you ought to do, who you ought to be and how you ought to act.   Just make sure you do it!

After all, there’s no sense in deceiving yourself.
